Product Description

The iGrow Laser Helmet is FDA Cleared, meaning that it is safe to use as a medical device to regrow hair. What’s more impressive, however, is that this unit has proven itself in clinical trials. In the clinical trial for women, 47 women were chosen between the ages of 18 and 60. The results showed a 37% increase in hair growth. In the clinical trial for men, 44 men were chosen between the ages of 18 and 48. The results showed a 35% increase in hair growth. In conclusion, this low-level light therapy has significantly increased hair counts suffering from androgenetic alopecia hair loss in both men and women. What does Low-Level Laser Therapy Do?

What Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) actually does is this: it increases stimulation and blood flow to the hair follicles with low-level lasers. This method was actually accidentally discovered by a Hungarian physician and surgeon, Endre Mester.  Mester accidentally discovered that low-level ruby laser light could regrow hair during an attempt to replicate an experiment which involved shaved areas on mice. During his experiment, he discovered that the laser he was using on the shaved areas caused the hair to grow back faster compared to other mice he treated with placebos. He published his findings in 1967, and by the 1970s, he was applying low-level laser light to treat people with skin ulcers. By 1974, Mester founded the Laser Research Center in Budapest, Hungary. Does It Work? Will It Re-Grow My Hair?

What is probably most important to those who are considering this method is that it won’t work on hair follicles that are considered “dead.” If you are early enough in your progressive hair loss, and your hair is thinning, receding, but not totally gone, there is hope that LLLT will work. If you have waited, or put off any kind of treatment to slow or stop your hair loss, and your hair follicles have totally shrunken to the point of “no return,” the laser will not work. There has to be at least baby fine hair left on your scalp for the light to stimulate the roots.

Can I Still Use Rogaine?

In addition to the fact that there must be at least some follicles left, this product, or any LLLT that has been FDA cleared, can be used in conjunction with other methods to regrow hair. For instance, If you are using any Minoxidil products, Caffeine products, any type of root stimulator products, hair vitamin supplements, or even taking Propecia (the oral drug for men), this product can be used to amplify any of those attempts to stop hair loss and re-grow your hair.

During my research, I came across this video from a young man who actually went through with hair transplant surgery (seemingly way too young, but…) In this video, he explains what comes inside the box and talks about hair loss in general. Here’s his quick video introducing the iGrow Laser helmet:

Product Review Discussion of iGrow Hair Growth Helmet:

After researching and reading about this unit, and reading many of the product reviews from actual people who have used the iGrow Laser Hair Growth Helmet, I am giving this product a Product Review Score, and you’ll find it in the table below. For now, here’s my breakdown:

Value – The reason I stayed right in the middle at 5 out of 10 is because value is totally subjective and personal to each person who is experiencing hair loss. For some, it’s no big deal, and for others, it’s a very BIG deal. In addition, there is a six-month product guarantee. So, for me and my attempt to score this product, I thought it was best to leave this as a middle score and not skew the results.

Quality, Product Safety, and Effectiveness – Well, again, relying on the research up to the point of this writing, I have not come across any testimonial stating that this product was “cheap” or inferior as far as quality goes. In fact, in the video, above, the host actually acknowledges the fact that this product even comes with built-in headphones. So, I scored this as an 8. For Product Safety, there is another video (not shown) where the host of that video actually shows you what happens when you take it off your head while the product is still switched on. The product auto-shutdown and went on “pause.” So, there is a safety feature built into this product, and it does work. As for the Effectiveness, I relied on the clinical studies. These studies showed that both men and women did increase hair count and that the product is effective.

Customer Feedback – Well, again, as I mentioned earlier, this product may not work for all who use it. Further, testimonials, while usually a very good thing to come across, are not always accurate. There are many variables that will affect the outcome of using this product. For example, have these people used this product faithfully and as directed for at least 6 months? Have they tried to hurry the process and reported in too early? Have they waited too long, past the point of “no return?” Do they put lots of hair products in their hair and block up their pores? Do they wash their hair often or not often enough? Do they have androgenetic alopecia, or are they suffering from an illness that can and would affect hair loss – no matter what they may do? There are just too many variables. This product is considered a “medical device,” and it is being used by people in an “uncontrolled” environment – which I why I gave slightly more weight to the clinical studies rather than actual users.

Conclusion – So, the decision rests entirely with the individual who thinks it’s worth the price to give it a try. And, if you are going to give it a try, it doesn’t hurt at all to also use other root stimulators, shampoos, conditioners, and topical Minoxidil solutions that may help in stimulating your hair follicles to grow back your hair. I say it’s worth a try – especially with a 6-month product guarantee. But, that’s me. What say you?
